2. Data Collected

When using Eatoon, we collect the following data:

  • Registered accounts: username, email address, display name, profile picture (optional), last login date.
  • Events: title, description, date, location, cover image.
  • Guest contributions: freely entered first name, dish brought, quantity, note.

3. Purposes

  • Providing the shared meal coordination service.
  • Allowing non-logged-in guests to edit or delete their own contribution.
  • Service improvement.

4. Cookies

Eatoon uses only functional cookies. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used.

EATOON_SID Strictly necessary Session (2h) Maintains the logged-in user session.
eatoon_consent Strictly necessary 1 year / 1 day (decline) Remembers your cookie preference.
guest_token_{id} Functional Until event date Allows a non-logged-in guest to edit or delete their own contribution.

You can accept or decline functional cookies via the banner shown on your first visit. If declined, the contribution tracking cookie will not be kept after the browser is closed.

5. Legal Basis

  • Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR / Art. 31 nFADP) for account and event data.
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR / Art. 31 nFADP) for functional cookies necessary for the service to work.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR / Art. 31 nFADP) for persistent guest cookies.

6. Retention

  • Account data is retained while the account is active.
  • Deleting your account removes all associated data (events, contributions).
  • Guest tokens expire at the event date.

7. Your Rights

Under GDPR (EU) and nFADP (Switzerland), you have the following rights:

  • Right of access to your personal data.
  • Right to rectification.
  • Right to erasure (delete your account directly from your profile).
  • Right to data portability.
  • Right to object to processing.

8. International Transfers

Data is hosted in Switzerland (Infomaniak Network SA, Geneva). No transfers to third countries.
